The Velikovsky family is the story of two generations of Velikovsky artwork. But they are all one story of the Princeton artist, author and psychoanalyst.

Dr. Ruth Velikovsky Sharon, 1926 - 2012, was the daughter of Immanuel Velikovsky (1895-1979), the renowned author of Worlds in Collision (1950) and other controversial works, and Elis Velikovsky (1895-1983), award-winning sculptor.

Ruth Velikovsky was raised in an atmosphere of megawatt intelligence and erudition (her father knew Freud, Jung and Einstein, never mind the lesser fry) and of deep appreciation for serious culture. Her mother, the sculptor, was also an outstanding violinist.

Dr. Sharon was something of a polymath herself. In addition to her psychoanalytic practice, she has written numerous works, including professional papers and a biography of her father; co-authored I Refuse to Raise a Brat (Harper Collins) with actress Marilu Henner, which made the New York Times best-seller list (“how to” category); participated with her son, Rafael Sharon, also a psychoanalyst in “The Couch” a radio call-in show, and has earned professional recognition as a graphic artist for her drawings and paintings.

Ruth Velikovsky Sharon, PhD, died in Princeton on October 31, 2012. For those who knew her... we will miss her.
